Silver Organism

Series

2001 - Present

In 2001, I wrote to the Sheffield Assay Master seeking sponsorship to create my Organism series in silver. They generously provided 10kg of silver for my very first silver piece, and in return, it became part of their collection.

For the first few years, the Silver Organism works were designed using techniques developed through blacksmithing. However, I soon recognised the distinct properties of silver compared to steel. This realisation led me to develop separate techniques tailored specifically for silver.

I vividly remember the exciting weeks I spent experimenting with this stunning material. Silver's unique characteristics—brilliant whiteness, high reactivity, and sensitivity—even responded to my mental state.
