2014 - Present
In 2014, The Silver Trust commissioned me to create table centrepieces for 10 Downing Street. During a visit to this historic political house, I was captivated by its black-painted brick facade, glossy black door, and black and white marble chequered floor. This was the starting point for merging my steel and silver series.
Inspired by my research into historical estate houses like Chatsworth House in Devonshire, I turned to 18th-century botanical drawings for references. These drawings became the foundation for proposing a series of unique floral centrepieces, combining various metals, including bronze, in a contrasting black-and-white aesthetic mirroring the diversity of opinions that coexist within British politics.
Since their creation, the initial four pieces have been used on numerous occasions within the house, and now the collection passed to the Goldsmiths Company.
